FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is REGIMENT?
REGIMENT is a free, print-and-play tabletop wargame focusing on vast combined-arms battles using epic-scale miniatures. The rules are intended for an agnostic science-fiction theme. You can use whatever miniatures or setting you prefer to play with!
-
What miniature scale is REGIMENT designed for?
REGIMENT is primarily based on 6mm (1:270 to 1:300) scale, however you are able to use larger scale models in many cases, particularly with infantry units. In REGIMENT, the base is the unit, therefore the height or scale of your miniature does not affect the gameplay mechanics. You can learn more about this basing system from this blog post.
-
What is unique about REGIMENT from other games?
REGIMENT provides tactical depth through an epic-scale battle engine that is easy to learn and quick to play. It uses a command-driven activation system where Command Rolls determine your unit's action economy, simulating the friction of leadership and communication. Instead of standard rerolls, players manage a pool of Tactical Points to directly change die results, ensuring critical moments succeed when they matter most. The 6mm scale allows for massed combined-arms combat where positioning entire platoons is more important than individual heroics. By abstracting cumbersome processes, the game remains fast-paced and focused on strategic decision-making.

Is REGIMENT a Star Wars™ game?
No. REGIMENT is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Disney, Lucasfilm Ltd, Asmodee, or Atomic Mass Games. For more details, see our Credits & Legal section. While the core engine is setting-agnostic, there are several Star Wars™ factions developed for the system and provided to the community for free, including the Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Galactic Republic, Separatist Alliance, and Gungan Grand Army. We highly recommend players own or purchase a Star Wars™ Legion core starter set, as REGIMENT is designed to utilize the official game tokens and accessory components found within it.

I don't have a 3D printer. Can I still play REGIMENT?
Absolutely. Something very important to me while designing this game was ease of accessibility. I have included several free print-and-play packets which include paper printable 2D unit counters (that work exactly the same as 3D miniatures would) and also 2D terrain assets. You can print these off and use them as-is, or get fancy with them on cardstock or cardboard. You can find more print-and-play materials on the Vendor Directory or in the Quick-Start Guide.
-
How can I play REGIMENT online?
I have developed a custom Tabletop Simulator module that integrates with the Army Builder. You will need to own the base game before you can play and then install the mod from the Steam Workshop page.
-
Where can I read the rules?
If you visit the Wiki section of the site, you will find a Quick-Start Guide at the top which has links to rules and other useful things.
You may also browse the various articles and categories found on the Wiki.
-
How do I make an army list?
I have developed a custom-made Army Builder specifically for REGIMENT, and you can find it at the top menu bar.
-
Where can I find people to play with?
We have a Discord server where you can find people to play in-person or you can ask on our forums in the "Find Other Players" section.
-
I have a question about something, where can I ask?
You can ask on the Discord server or on the forums in the Rules & Questions section.
-
Where do I find miniatures?
In the Vendor Directory section of the site you can find a variety of free and paid listings from third-party vendors. On specific Unit Wiki pages you can also find listings at the bottom of the page. If you know of any miniatures specifically scaled for 6-10mm (1:300-1:180) that you feel would be appropriate for the game, please let me know so they can be added to the list!
-
How can I contribute to playtesting or development?
We are always looking for active contributing playtesters. You do not have to sign up, simply download the latest rules and submit playtest reports and participate on the relevant forum sections. Currently as of May 2026 we are focusing on the initial "Open Alpha Playtest".
At this time we are not looking for additional game developers but if you feel strongly that you can contribute in a meaningful way to the project please contact SpaceNavy on Discord.
